G’day!
I’m Mark Lim, and I am passionate about Hydroponics and Glasshouses!
I am studying a Certificate 3 in Production Horticulture (Glasshouse) at Chisholm Tafe’s National Precision Growing Centre in Cranbourne, as I want to be a part of the dynamic Glasshouse industry. Before starting this course, I used to work behind a desk all day in Telecommunications, therefore I love being active and undertaking practical work in the Glasshouse.
I truly believe that growing crops hydroponically is both a horticultural art and a science, and it is the sustainable farming method for the future. Furthermore, growers can also maintain good quality control over their crops with hi-tech computerised management systems, which ultimately increases crop yield and profitability as well.
This Certificate 3 course that I am currently studying at Chisholm Institute of Tafe is a good mix of both theoretical and hands-on learning, which will prepare me with the technical skills to confidently enter the industry, and enable me to be an asset to my future employers.
My career goal is to become a knowledgeable and well-qualified hydroponics specialist, and I am looking to work for any type of commercial crop grower after I graduate in November 2013.

Hi, my name is Graham. I am currently studying for a Certificate 3 in Production Horticulture at Chisholm Institute.

I have just discovered horticulture and growing, and I really enjoy the technical challenges associated with crop growing in protected environments.

All topics of crop growing really interest me, and I like the way in which you have to understand so many different aspects to be a successful grower. I especially enjoy using technology for both labour registration and climate management and seeing the practical outcome this technology brings.

My aim at the end of this course is to continue learning in a workplace environment, with the ambition to become fully competent in a wide range of disciplines that relate to commercial growing.

Besides TAFE I also volunteer at a local indigenous nursery and am currently undertaking a short course in habitat management to broaden my knowledge of environmental systems.

Hi, I am Diana Lester
Originally I was a Nurse; and I had been in that industry for 24 years, I have now chosen to go down the path of retraining into horticulture, and I am currently enrolled in both the Certificate III Horticulture and the Certificate III Production Horticulture courses at Chisholm's Cranbourne campus.
I have been involved with horticulture in one form or the other for most of my life. I am actively seeking part time work in horticulture, and wish to gain further qualifications in this field. The work and study I love and cannot get enough of, I have also considered aquaculture as I have had some exposure to this. I am living on a 2 ½ acre property in Devon meadows, and I am lucky that I can be also be involved in most of the property maintenance
I am a also a student judge with OSCOV, (training to be an orchid judge), and currently involved with attending various clubs, shows and commercial venues for this purpose. This full process will take 5 years duration and then I will be a qualified judge. This has increased my exposure to another aspect of hydroponics, as orchids have been grown in this way for considerable time.
